Democratic
BACKGROUND
- Singh, 50, of Dix Hills, is a registered Democrat and is running on the Democratic party line in the general election. This is his first bid for public office.
- He is a practicing attorney with offices in Hicksville and Richmond Hill, Queens.
- Singh graduated from Boston University School of Law, and previously studied law in Australia and India.
ISSUES
- Singh said that if elected his primary goal in the Senate will be to address the issue of affordability, helping young Long Islanders find ways to stay in the region after graduation.
- He said he will also work with local institutions such as Stony Brook University and Brookhaven National Lab. “We have the perfect infrastructure here to sustain high-paying jobs,” he said.
- Singh said he plans to work on issues to help lure industry back to Long Island, and work with the Democratic majority in the Senate to bring home benefits for his district. “We need representatives who can get money for our schools, education and healthcare from Albany and Washington,” he said.
