<p>President Donald Trump&#39;s first year back in office has affected Long Islanders in many ways, from the tax cuts in his &quot;Big, Beautiful Bill&quot; to cuts in safety net programs and stepped up efforts to oust undocumented people.</p>

<p>After the recent&nbsp;government shutdown&nbsp;idled many federal workers on Long Island and across New York State, Trump has resumed a focus on the economy and immigration. He has boasted of lower prices, even as studies show more Americans are having trouble paying their bills.</p>
