EDWARD A. FLOOD

REPUBLICAN

BACKGROUND:

  • Flood, 40, of Port Jefferson Village, is assistant town attorney for Brookhaven, where he prosecutes environmental crimes and violations of rental and permit laws. He also has a law practice where he focuses on real estate, and previously was a criminal defense attorney.
  • He also is running on the Conservative line.
  • He is a graduate of St. Joseph's College in Patchogue and Western New England University School of Law.

ISSUES:

  • Flood said he would work to repeal and replace the state's 2019 bail reform law. While reform was needed, the changes went too far, he said. Judges should be given discretion, and bail reform laws should be strengthened to require automatic bail for more felonies.
  • To help reduce the cost of living on Long Island, Flood said he would work to cancel the contract with PSEG Long Island.
  • He would work to stop a congestion tax in New York City, which he called a "back door tax on Long Islanders" because it would increase the price of goods coming to Long Island.
