Elaine Phillips releases new ad in 7th State Senate District race

Republican Elaine Phillips has released her second TV ad in the campaign for the 7th State Senate District seat, highlighting her support for term limits and opposition to taxpayer-funded pensions for corrupt lawmakers.
Phillips, mayor of the Village of Flower Hill, released the ad, titled “Problem-Solution,” on Wednesday.
She will take on Democratic businessman Adam Haber in November. They are vying for the seat being vacated by Republican Sen. Jack Martins, who is running for Congress in the 3rd District.
In the ad, Phillips cites her experience as mayor in setting up an ethics board to make “local government more transparent and accountable.”
She says that if elected she would vote to impose term limits on state officials and support legislation stripping public pensions from officials convicted of a crime.
“In politics, you’re either part of the problem or part of the solution,” Phillips says in the ad. “There’s really no in between. And in Albany, we have too many problems. Not enough solutions.”
Haber spokesman Jonathan Heppner said Phillips “is desperately trying distract voters from the fact that she is the chosen candidate of the Nassau County Republican and Dean Skelos political machines that have left a long trail of corruption from Nassau to Albany at the expense of hardworking Long Island families.”
Heppner said Haber will release his first TV ad of the campaign “shortly.”
