BACKGROUND
- Tarnoff, 68, of Port Washington, is a registered Libertarian and is running on the Libertarian party line in the general election.
- He has served as the county chair of the Nassau County Libertarian Party and is the immediate past chair of the Libertarian National Judicial Committee.
- Tarnoff graduated from Brown University in 1980 with a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics, and from Pace University in 1996 with a law degree.
ISSUES
- Tarnoff said he believes socialism should be outlawed in the United States, adding that his opposition to what he describes as the “virulent” spread of socialist ideology played a key factor in his decision to run for office.
- He said Congress should focus on lowering inflation and said he supports monetary policy that would peg the value of the dollar to gold or digital currency.
- Tarnoff said he believes the federal government should be doing more to reduce the cost of healthcare, arguing that“"drug companies, pharmaceutical companies and hospitals all get fabulously wealthy, while the rest of us suffer under the crushing burdens of regulations and costs.”
