BACKGROUND:

  • Scagliola, 46, of Glen Cove, is running for a third term on the city council.
  • She is a freelance financial journalist covering mergers and acquisitions, private equity, lending, banking and the bond market.
  • She is president of the Glen Cove Education Foundation and serves on the board of the Glen Cove Business Improvement District.

ISSUES:

  • Scagliola said that if reelected, she will “work hard to improve our quality of life by continuing to push for improvements such as new street lighting downtown.”
  • She said she worked with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority “to implement the city’s first express train service to Manhattan.”
  • She said she has raised thousands of dollars “to fund improvements all over the city and the school district, including new scoreboards at the city stadium, one of many projects I’ve worked on without burdening the taxpayers.”
