BACKGROUND:
- O’Donnell, 61, of Bayville, is running on the Republican, Democratic and Conservative party lines in the general election.
- He has been an acting New York State Supreme Court justice since January 2023. He was appointed as a Nassau County Family Court judge in June 2022, and elected to the position in November 2022. From 2012 to 2022, he was a judge in Nassau County District Court, 4th District.
- From 2006 to 2012 he was special counsel to the Oyster Bay Town supervisor.
- From 1995 to 2006, he was an assistant district attorney in the Nassau County district attorney’s Special Investigations Bureau, and from 1999 to 2004 he was special assistant U.S. attorney in the Eastern District of New York.
- He received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in 1984, and earned his law degree from Seton Hall University Law School in 1987.
- O’Donnell was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1988.
