Republican
BACKGROUND:
- Brown, 52, of Wading River, is seeking her second term as assessor. She is also running on the Conservative line. She was appointed to fill a vacancy in April 2021 and elected that November to fill the remainder of the term. She previously had been senior assessment clerk in the assessor's office for almost eight years.
- She is a state-certified assessor.
- She graduated from Longwood High School in 1988.
ISSUES:
- Brown said she likes the different aspects of the job, from helping taxpayers navigate the exemption process to promoting assessment equity through deed transfers and sales.
- She said she wants to continue learning and growing in the position.
- She said she wants the department to continue to bring excellent customer service and maintain the office’s open-door policy to taxpayers.
