BACKGROUND:
- Doherty, 59, of Cutchogue, is seeking her fourth term on the town board and is also running on the Conservative line. She recently stepped down from her post as chief of staff for Assemb. Jodi Giglio.
- She worked for 12 years as a clerk in the town’s trustee office, and later served six years on the board of trustees.
- She studied bookkeeping and accounting at Nassau Community College.
ISSUES:
- Doherty said that if elected she would be a voice of continuity on the board and help the town adapt yet keep what’s beautiful in its rural character.
- She said she wants to see through to completion the project to build a new town courthouse and police station on property west of the current station.
- She said she wants to keep improving the town’s infrastructure and protect water quality, especially addressing drainage from outflow pipes into creeks.
