  • Nielsen, 67, was born and raised in East Hampton and now lives in Amagansett.
  • She has served as assessor for 36 years.
  • She holds a bachelor’s from Southampton College.
  • Nielsen said she’s running to keep continuity in the office and assisting residents, as she has done since 1988.
  • She hopes to implement a data improvement project that would help streamline the current inventory of parcels in East Hampton. She said the database could also be used by other town departments and the public, including appraisers, brokers and attorneys. The project remains unfunded.
  • Another priority is to continue providing an accurate assessment roll each year “and continue to maintain a good working relationship with the residents,” she said.
