BACKGROUND:
- Pilip, 43, of Great Neck, is seeking her second term.
- She was airlifted out of her native Ethiopia as a child, along with her entire family, to Israel during a civil war. She served in the Israeli Defense Forces as a paratrooper and immigrated to the U.S. 15 years ago.
- She became active in community affairs in the Village of Great Neck as a member of the Architectural Review Board.
ISSUES:
- Pilip is concerned about fighting antisemitism and has held multiple public forums on concerns about discrimination against Jews.
- She is advocating for increasing police patrols in the community and adding speed-reading devices to high-traffic communities.
- She has supported infrastructure improvements in the district including bridge repair work, water protection and land transfers from the county to the Great Neck Park District.
