BACKGROUND:
- Lafazan, 29, of Woodbury, is seeking a fourth term. He works at Northwell Health, advising the health system on corporate social responsibility.
- He was a trustee with the Syosset School Board for five years.
- He is on the board of directors of the Long Island Council on Alcoholism & Drug Dependence and the Family & Children’s Association.
ISSUES:
- Lafazan said taxes and fees are high on his agenda and touted his success in helping to deliver a $70 million tax cut for Nassau families. He said he also proposed legislation to eliminate the red-light camera fee, suspend the county gas tax and freeze taxes again this year.
- He said public safety is another priority and that he voted to increase funding for law enforcement, delivered $26 million for the new 2nd Precinct and led the fight to reopen the 6th Precinct.
- He said his fight against corruption, including legislation he introduced for mandatory background checks for all politicians, will continue.
