Nassau County Legislator, 17th District: Raja K. Singh
RAJA K. SINGH
Democratic
BACKGROUND:
- Singh, 38, of Hicksville, is an attorney and small-business owner.
- For the past several years he has coached a high school mock-trial team.
- He is on the board for the nonprofit SIKH Hoops that hosts basketball tournaments, and he donates money from his law firm to help sponsor community events and giveaways.
ISSUES:
- Singh said he will push for proper maintenance of parks and public places and see that it is done fairly across District 17, not just in certain communities while others are ignored.
- He said the district has seen substantial new real estate development and that such growth mandates laws that require clean energy be a part of the process.
- He said legislation is needed that will continue to protect the environment but also allows for the creation of jobs and businesses that will help Nassau County and the district grow.
