BACKGROUND:
- Fortunato, 63, of Smithtown, is seeking her first term in office.
- She has run for the Smithtown Town Board twice but was not elected. She is a retired pastor at the former New York Presbyterian Church in Port Washington.
- She graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and New York Theological Seminary.
ISSUES:
- Fortunato said she wants to extend the office’s hours and have more staff available during busy times of the year.
- She wants to explore using technology to make the office more efficient.
- Concerned about the cybersecurity hacks in Suffolk County in 2022, she said she wants to explore bringing in new technology that would modernize the office to make it as secure as possible.
