SUSAN E. COOLS

Democratic

BACKGROUND:

  • Cools, 58, of Baldwin, is seeking her first term as town clerk.
  • She is a real estate broker, former Baldwin school board president and current trustee. She has also been a five-time president of the Rockville Centre Rotary.
  • She attended the Community College of Denver but did not get a degree.

ISSUES:

  • Cools said the town needs to do a better job of publicizing resident services and making them as accessible as possible.
  • She said that if elected she would overhaul the town website and reevaluate its processes for certain permits, like those for businesses and community events, that she said are needlessly onerous.
  • She said the one-party rule by Republicans for most of the past century has not benefited residents.
