BACKGROUND:

  • Manzella, 36, of Selden, was elected to the 3rd Town District in a special election this spring.
  • Previously Manzella worked in IT in the William Floyd Union Free School District, Longwood Central and Middle Country School Districts and in the Town of Brookhaven’s Assessor’s Office.
  • He assisted taxpayers by correcting inaccurate assessments on their homes or businesses.

ISSUES:

  • Manzella said it is important to maintain local control over development decisions and that he will work to ensure that zoning decisions align with community needs and desires, including supporting responsible business development while preserving existing green spaces.
  • He said his focus on public safety includes cleaning up blighted properties and the general maintenance of town parks and facilities.
  • Manzella said road quality, public safety and responsible redevelopment are the most frequent topics that come up with constituents.
