Republican

BACKGROUND:

• Miller, 59, of Atlantic Beach, served in the state Assembly from 2016 to 2022. She was appointed to the town council in February 2022, then won a special election for the council seat in November 2022.
• She has been a longtime advocate of the disabled and has two children with disabilities. For many years she volunteered as a parent trainer to help medical residents differentiate between caring for a child with chronic illness versus one with an acute illness.
• She attended Adelphi University but did not graduate.

ISSUES:

• Miller said she wants to keep taxes down for residents.
• She said she wants to work with the town’s public safety department and Nassau County police to enhance residents’ safety.
• She said she supports housing that maintains the suburban quality of life without burdening localities with “massive” apartment buildings, but by incorporating “smart development of blighted projects or empty lots.”
