JOHN M. LORENZO
Republican
BACKGROUND:
- Lorenzo, 48, of West Sayville, is seeking to continue his tenure as councilman representing the Town of Islip’s Fourth District.
- The Islip Town Council appointed Lorenzo, in January 2023, to take over the seat formerly held by Mary Kate Mullen, who resigned to become a Fifth District Court judge.
- He owns South Shore Abstract Inc., a title insurance company in Sayville, and is president of Inclusive Sports and Fitness in Holbrook. He is also a board member with The Neighborhood House, a nonprofit that offers support to bereaved individuals in Sayville.
ISSUES:
- Lorenzo said that if elected he would focus on “efficiency, transparency and fiscal accountability.”
- The town government needs to be more transparent with constituents, he said, and “it has to be more efficient too, because sometimes working with town government from the outside is a bit of a bear and requires a full-time job for some people.”
- He also emphasized he would work with the town government on “changing with the times.”
