STEVEN L. LABRIOLA

Republican

BACKGROUND:

  • Labriola, 61, of Massapequa, won his seat in 2019. He previously served as a New York State assemblyman, Nassau County chief deputy comptroller, Nassau County deputy county clerk and Oyster Bay Town clerk.
  • As a state assemblyman he voted to enact the STAR Property Tax Relief program to help deliver property tax relief to homeowners.
  • He has a master’s in government and politics and public administration from St. John’s University.

ISSUES:

  • Labriola said the No. 1 issue is preserving and protecting the suburban quality of life and that he will take on challenges like protecting local zoning control from a state takeover.
  • He said he plans to continue the revitalization of downtown Hicksville and wants to make playgrounds more inclusive to better serve special-needs children.
  • He said he wants the town to issue shellfishing licenses to “mom and pop” operations instead of large companies.
