BACKGROUND:
- Panico, 45, of Center Moriches, is in his sixth term as a Brookhaven Town councilman. He also has been deputy supervisor since 2012.
- He is a self-employed lawyer specializing in real estate.
- Panico received a bachelor’s in political science and history from Stony Brook University and a law degree from Touro College.
ISSUES:
- Panico said he has a strong record on environmental protection, open-space preservation and combating overdevelopment.
- He said he would use the town’s land use and zoning laws to “meet the needs of the future generations” by encouraging redevelopment while discouraging overdevelopment.
- He said he has maintained and enhanced quality of life by cracking down on suburban blight and cleaning up hundreds of zombie houses.
