- Vargas, 56, of Miller Place, is running on the Democratic and Working Families party lines in the general election.
- She has been an attorney in private practice in Bay Shore specializing in matrimonial and family law since 2003. Her practice has also included criminal law and general litigation.
- In 2023, she became a mediator in the Suffolk County Supreme Court Matrimonial Mediation Program.
- Vargas was appointed by the Appellate Division, 2nd Judicial Department, as a member on the Grievance Committee for the 10th Judicial District from 2020 to 2026.
