Kathee Burke-Gonzalez

BACKGROUND:

• Burke-Gonzalez, 64, has served as town supervisor since 2024. Previously, she served as a councilwoman since 2014. 

• She previously worked in advertising and served on the Springs school board.
• She won the Democratic committee's endorsement with 88% of the vote and is seeking reelection after winning her second term unopposed.

ISSUES:

• Burke-Gonzalez points to the creation of a town administrator and capital projects manager, added building department staff and increased state grants as evidence of more efficient governance.
• Burke-Gonzalez said she running on a record of securing major state and federal funding for coastal resilience and infrastructure, including beach resilience and dune restoration projects, emergency inlet dredging and wildfire mitigation projects.
• She said recent budget increases are necessary to pay town employees a “fair wage," advance new recreation facilities, and add public safety and parks staff. She said the town is making “great strides” on affordable housing, including pursuing modular housing options for the stalled Cantwell Court project and expanding accessory dwelling unit programs.
