BACKGROUND

  • Nowick, 77, is a registered Republican and is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines in the general election. She was elected to the Town Council in 2014 and is seeking a fourth term.
  • She has been a Suffolk County legislator and Smithtown town clerk, and worked in the New York State Court system for 20 years.
  • Nowick graduated from Suffolk County Community College in 1967 with an associate degree in business. 

ISSUES

  • Nowick said she wants to help small businesses in town flourish by focusing on walkable downtown areas that can be safe for pedestrians and would, in turn, promote commerce.
  • She said she wants to focus on revitalizing downtown areas across town.
  • Nowick said a key issue she wants to focus on if reelected is prioritizing the improvement of town parks and beaches.
