BACKGROUND

• Vanunu, 40, of Merrick, is a registered Democrat running on the Democratic party line. He is seeking public office for the first time. 
• He's a Jericho native who works as an attorney in commercial litigation and insurance fraud for Rivkin Radler. He got his start as a prosecutor in the Queens' District Attorney's Office.
• Vanunu earned his undergraduate degree at New York University before graduating from St. John's School of Law in 2011.

ISSUES

• Vanunu wants to lower residents' water bills by accelerating the long-planned sale of the private Liberty Utilities company to the public South Nassau Water Authority.
• He wants to improve transparency and eliminate "wasteful spending" in the county budget. 
• Vanunu wants to incentivize more people to join the Nassau County Police Department and be a "partner" between residents and officers.
