BACKGROUND:
- Thorne, 56, of Patchogue, the incumbent first elected in 2021, previously worked at the Suffolk County Board of Elections and was a troubleshooting manager for an auto repair service. He is also running on the Conservative Party line.
- He was a volunteer firefighter with the North Patchogue Fire Department, where he also served as supervisor, was captain of Patchogue EMS, and a volunteer emergency medical technician with the Patchogue Ambulance Company.
- He graduated from MacArthur High School in Levittown.
ISSUES:
- Public safety is a top priority and Thorne supported the hiring of 200 more police officers in his first term.
- He co-sponsored a successful bill to bring the ShotSpotter Program back to Suffolk.
- He said he will work to keep taxes in check, noting that he supported the cap on the gasoline tax that saved taxpayers over $13 million.
