WASHINGTON — Republican Michael LiPetri had a strong first month of fundraising in his bid to unseat Democrat Rep. Tom Suozzi, new election filings show, but the congressman remains millions of dollars ahead.

Long Island’s three other U.S. House members have, like Suozzi, continued to add significantly to their war chests. Suozzi has stockpiled the most, with more than $5 million on hand.

But former Assemb. LiPetri — President Donald Trump’s endorsed choice to unseat Suozzi — is showing that he can pull in dollars, too.

LiPetri’s filing this week with the Federal Election Commission shows he has already raised $691,459. That compares with the $863,553 Suozzi reported raising in the three months since Jan. 1.

LiPetri's opponent in a GOP primary, Gregory Hach, has been largely self-funding and has pledged up to $1 million to his campaign.

Neither LiPetri’s nor Suozzi’s campaigns offered comments on their filings.

Erin Convey, a nonpartisan handicapper with the Cook Political Report, said Suozzi’s seat now "looks like the best pickup opportunity for the GOP on paper" in New York State.

Convey said national attention and dollars from both parties could flow to this campaign, amid the fight to win control of the U.S. House. But she underscored that Suozzi "is battle-tested."

Suozzi’s campaign reported raising more than $4.1 million since the start of last year. He reported more than $5 million in hand, leading all Long Island House incumbents. That is nearly 10 times the $587,053 that LiPetri has.

Hach reported $266,972 in the bank, having collected $15,226 since Jan. 1 and providing a personal loan of $150,000 — bringing the total amount to $500,000 of his own money invested in his campaign.

A filing for Danielle Welch, a Democratic candidate for Suozzi’s seat, was not available as of Thursday.

Rep. Laura Gillen (D-Rockville Centre) in the 4th Congressional District reported raising over $1.3 million in the first three months of 2026, bringing her total to $4.2 million since last year. She has about $3 million remaining.

Jeanne Driscoll, the GOP’s endorsed challenger heading to the June 23 primary, did not launch her campaign until this week. Another Republican running for Gillen’s seat, retired United States Air Force lieutenant Marvin Suber Williams, reported raising $11,762 since January with $4,566 in the bank.

One of the Democrats seeking to take on Gillen, Kiana Bierria-Anderson, reported $30,437 in contributions since January, with $8,614 left in the bank. A filing for former Democratic Assembly member Taylor Darling had not been posted by the FEC.

Rep. Nick LaLota (R-Amityville) in the 1st District reported raising more than $743,000 in the first three months of 2026, bringing his total to more than $3.1 million raised since last year. His campaign reported more than $3 million remaining.

Two Democrats running for LaLota’s seat also filed updated financial reports. Christopher Gallant reported raising $117,546 since January with $72,390 on hand. Jonathan Lewis Jacobs reported raising $79,475 with $38,749 in the bank. There was no updated filing available for another Democrat, Lukas Ventouras.

Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-Bayport) in the 2nd district reported raising more than $530,000 in the first three months of the year, bringing his total to almost $2 million since last year. He reported more than $2.7 million on hand.

Former Suffolk County Executive Patrick Halpin, a Democrat running for Garbarino's seat, reported raising $92,098 since January, bringing his total since last year to $374,867. He reported $74,896 in the bank.

Another Democrat, Jessica Nicole Murphy, reported raising $21,822 since January. She reported that she gave her campaign a $50,000 loan and has $56,920 in the bank. A third Democrat, Garrett Petersen, reported raising $$4,846 since January and having $5,301.
