- Berland, 62, of Dix Hills, is running on the Democratic, Republican, Conservative and Working Families party lines in the general election.
- She was appointed as a judge to the Suffolk District Court in 2023.
- Berland served two terms in the Suffolk County Legislature, from 2018-2021, where she was elected majority leader in 2020.
- She was a member of the Huntington Town Board from 2001-2017. She also worked as an assistant attorney general, an assistant town attorney for the Town of Huntington; and had a private practice.
- She graduated from the State University of New York at Albany in 1982 and earned her law degree at Hofstra University School of Law in 1986, where she was an adjunct professor.
- She was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1986 and Florida Bar in 1989.
