BACKGROUND:

  • McSweeney, 44, of Babylon Village, is running for a second term.  
  • He has worked as a firefighter for the FDNY for 19 years.
  • He graduated from North Babylon High School.

ISSUES:

  • McSweeney said he’s worked to enhance public safety in the town, which has hired nine new full-time park rangers.
  • He said he is proud to have helped the town provide more than $3 million of federal American Rescue Plan money to help small businesses and organizations.
  • He said he wants to continue to focus on infrastructure improvements, including the town’s goal of repaving all of its roads in 10 years.
