For volume of state-level corruption cases, Queens is champ
No surprises here: The fickle finger of scandal points again toward Queens.
Under fresh indictment are state Sen. Malcolm Smith (D-St. Albans), Councilman Dan Halloran (R-Bayside) and Queens GOP vice chairman Vince Tabone.
In 2011, Queens GOP consultant John Haggerty was convicted in stealing hundreds of thousands in Bloomberg campaign funds.
Let’s not forget the criminal convictions of: the late Assemb. Anthony Seminerio, former Assemb. Brian McLaughlin, and the highest to rise, former State Comptroller Alan Hevesi. And don’t forget former Sens. Hiram Monserrate and Shirley Huntley.
All were dispatched from office since the middle of the last decade.
