Gillibrand and Long agree to October debate
SARATOGA SPRINGS -- Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and Republican challenger Wendy Long have agreed to debate a few weeks before the November election.
Cable news stations NY1 and YNN reported they will host a live candidates' debate on Oct. 17 at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs.
Long, a Manhattan lawyer, won a three-way Republican primary in May.
Gillibrand is running her second Senate campaign since she was appointed in 2009 to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton, who became secretary of state. Gillibrand won an election in 2010 to finish the last two years of Clinton's term.
