Twist in Glen Cove: GOP leaders oppose two Republican nominees

Sometimes in politics, the organization-backed candidates lose a primary. So what do party leaders do? Well, in New York, with its cross-endorsement deals, the leaders can support someone who isn't on their own line -- as the GOP organization in Glen Cove has done in the case of two council candidates who won nominations as insurgents. As this palm card for Tuesday's election shows, the word is out that Mayor Reginald Spinello's 'team' can be found "on the Republican or Conservative line." Spinello faces a challenge from Councilman Anthony Gallo, Jr.
