Gov. Cuomo injures hand in hoop game against brother Chris

ALBANY — Family traditions die hard in the Cuomo family.
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo injured a ligament in his right hand playing one-one-one basketball with his younger brother, Chris Cuomo, the CNN anchor, a Cuomo official confirmed Tuesday.
“I played against my father all the time. I never lost,” Andrew Cuomo, 58, said Monday night at a holiday party.
Chris Cuomo made the announcement of the injury, which will require surgery, the New York Post first reported. The Cuomo official said the injury won’t interrupt the governor’s duties or delay the signing or vetoing of bills.
Gov. Mario Cuomo, an aggressive hooper during his time in Albany, died Jan. 1.
The Cuomos confirmed the injury at Gov. Cuomo’s holiday party at a Manhattan bar, which included several Democratic officials. The crowd didn’t include Mayor Bill de Blasio, with whom Gov. Cuomo feuded much of the year.
There was no word on who was ahead when the governor was injured.
