Guv: I didn’t persuade woman in scandal

New York Gov. David Paterson says he didn’t try to persuade a woman at the center of a scandal to do anything but follow the law before she dropped domestic violence accusations against a trusted aide.  

Paterson is under investigation for whether he illegally contacted the woman.

In addition to his first direct denial of the accusation, Paterson on Wednesday also agreed with radio personality Don Imus of the FOX Business Network that U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand appears to have thrown him “under the bus.” Gillibrand has said that if Paterson is found to have violated the law in the scandal, he should resign.
   

Paterson appointed Gillibrand to the Senate seat in 2009 when she was a little known upstate congresswoman.
