Democrat Adam Haber is planning another bid for State Senate as incumbent Jack Martins (R-Mineola), who beat him in 2014, moves to run for the congressional seat being vacated Rep. Steve Israel (D-Huntington).
Haber, an East Hills businessman, said he is “seriously considering” the race but will not self-finance the run as before. “I am speaking to party leaders about ways I can help my community,” Haber said. He said he’d stay on the board of the Nassau Interim Finance Authority.
A GOP source said Nassau Legis. Laura Schaefer (R-Westbury) is eyeing the seat. Democrats outnumber Republicans in the district 88,457 to 67,278, records show.
