Kara Hahn has chest pains at Suffolk legislature meeting
The Suffolk Legislature’s meeting was interrupted Tuesday night when Legis. Kara Hahn (D-Setauket) left the meeting with chest pains.
Legis. William Spencer (D-Centerport), who’s also a doctor, said she was “fully alert and responsive, and out of an abundance of caution, we called the first responders and she was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.”
Legis. Tom Muratore (R-Ronkonkoma), who sits next to Hahn, said she complained of chest pains but had no trouble breathing or pain in her arms.
Hahn slumped over in her chair at 11 p.m. and did not respond when her name was called during a late-night debate. Spencer, other lawmakers and staff members, walked with her to the back. The Suffolk legislature resumed a half an hour later.
“She wasn’t feeling well and we had the chance to take her to the back and kind of assess her,” Spencer said.
Hahn, 46, has been a legislator since 2012. She was previously director of communication for Presiding Officer William Lindsay.
