Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump will take questions from veterans and military personnel at a forum in Manhattan on Sept. 7

Clinton, the Democratic presidential nominee, and Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, will appear at a candidates forum aboard the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum to address national security, military affairs, and veterans issues, according to a news release issued Thursday by NBC.

The network along with its companion cable channel MSNBC will air the one-hour event, which starts at 8 p.m. Today Show co-anchor Matt Lauer will moderate the event.

Trump and Clinton will not share the stage at the same time, but will appear back-to-back and take questions from an audience composed of veterans and active service members.

The event, promoted as a “Commander-in Chief forum” is being organized by the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America advocacy group.

Paul Rieckhoff, founder and chief executive officer of IAVA, said 93 percent of the group’s 2.8 million members said they’ll be voting in the Nov. 8 general election.

“Many deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan right now, are ready to hear from the candidates and hold them accountable,” Rieckhoff said.

The event comes just before Trump and Clinton are scheduled to faceoff on Sept. 26 at Hofstra University for the first presidential debate of the campaign season.
