The wild-card candidacy of party-switching Steve Levy, Suffolk executive, begins today. His announcement in Albany is noted here. Later today he announces near Battery Park, on New York City's version of State Street.

Not to second-guess or endorse anyone's campaign strategy, but maybe the NYC part of the event could have been held at famous Fusion Republican mayoral candidate Fiorello LaGuardia's "lucky corner" -- the one where Rudy Giuliani located his successful kickoffs -- at the corner of Lexington Ave. and E. 116th St.

For one thing, the tacos at El Aguila at that corner of East Harlem nowadays are known to be inexpensive and tasty. But maybe there were other things to recommend the location across from the downtown skyscrapers to the Levy campaign.

UPDATE: From the Levy announcement speech:
"The people of New York have  seen plenty of partisanship, plenty of gamesmanship and one-upmanship from  Albany, the one “ship” they havenot seen from  Albany is  leadership."
