BACKGROUND:
- Blumencranz, 26, grew up in Jericho and is making his first run for public office.
- He is also running on the Conservative line. He is an insurance broker.
- He has a bachelor of arts with a dual major in public policy analysis and religious studies from Rice University in Houston, and a master’s of science in regional and urban planning studies from the London School of Economics.
ISSUES:
- Blumencranz wants to repeal the state’s cashless bail law to “return more discretion to our judges.” He wants to cut state taxes.
- He said he would seek “to protect the environment by increasing conservation of important wildlife habitats and protecting our water sources.”
- He would seek to repeal what he called “the regressive taxation of congestion pricing” on Long Island drivers entering Manhattan.
