Suffolk County Comptroller John M. Kennedy Jr. drew more than 200 labor activists to a fundraising breakfast at IBEW Local 25 in Hauppauge last week.

Backers say Kennedy added $53,000 to his campaign coffers from the event. The event raised more than the $31,175 in contributions Kennedy reported for the first six months of the year.

In July, Kennedy reported $91,146 in his campaign coffers.

Democrat Jay Schneiderman, who is running against Kennedy, reported having $35,184 in his July campaign report.
