BACKGROUND:

  • Mikulin, 34, of Bethpage, won his seat in a special election in 2018, was elected to a full two-year term that November and reelected in 2020. He is also running on the Conservative line. He is the ranking member of the Assembly Consumer Affairs and Protection Committee.
  • Mikulin has a bachelor’s degree in government and a master’s in public administration, both from St. John’s University in Jamaica, Queens, and a juris doctor law degree from Touro Law School.
  • He is a former president of the Island Trees Library Board and was a deputy town attorney for the Town of Hempstead.

ISSUES:

  • Mikulin said his primary focus as an assemblymember is repealing New York State’s bail reform law. 
  • He said that he is “making sure that the remediation of the Bethpage plume goes well.”
  • Mikulin said he is also “making sure that Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow has the resources it needs to continue to serve the community.”
