John P. McCloy Jr.
DEMOCRAT
BACKGROUND: McCloy, 62, is seeking the Democratic line to run for Nassau's 5th Legislative District. A Long Island native, he moved to Baldwin 20 years ago. He earned a bachelor's degree in 1972 from St. John's University in Queens. He is an insurance agent with his own business in Levittown, and he and his wife, Aletha, have two children.
ISSUES: He said he recently helped defeat a proposed tax hike in the Baldwin school district over the next four years, and that he would continue fighting high taxes if elected. His other priorities include better economic and community development, including fewer empty stores; fair red light timing and keeping the First Police Precinct in Baldwin.
