Veteran Republican State Sen. Kenneth LaValle said he has no intention of retiring even though Senate Republicans lost control of the chamber in Tuesday’s  election.

“I’m not retiring,” said LaValle, (R-Port Jefferson), 79, who's served as senator for 42 years.

"I did things while in the minority before and will keep doing things. I come from the generation where you finish things you start.”

He added, "I keep saying, 'The First District’s first,’ and I’ll continue as long as I can take care of the First District, take care of my staff and the good Lord continues to give me health.”
