Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford) apparently rallied many New Yorkers against trying 9/11 plotters in lower Manhattan. He's been less successful getting other New York delegation members to sign into his bill to cut off Justice Department funds for the trials. Only two of the 28 in the delegation are co-sponsors: Upstater Christopher Lee, the other Republican; and Staten Island Democrat Michael McMahon. Most Democrats consider it a GOP bill. Neither New York senator signed on, but Sen. Charles Schumer has the ear of the White House. Late last year he secured an administration vow to pay security expenses - a lever Schumer used with Obama aides as city costs escalated. Quiet at first, Schumer now says "it's as plain as the nose on your face" the venue must be moved. - Tom Brune
