The congressional campaigns of Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin and Democrat Anna Throne-Holst have announced new endorsements.

Zeldin announced endorsements by a group of prominent Republicans from Brookhaven, including town Supervisor Edward P. Romaine and state Sen. Kenneth LaValle.

Six Brookhaven Democrats, including Assemb. Steven Englebright, of Setauket, have endorsed Throne-Holst, said campaign spokesman Andrew Grunwald.

The 1st Congressional District, expected to be among the most competitive in the region, includes slivers of Islip and Smithtown and the rest of Eastern Long Island. Brookhaven has the most voters of any town in the district.

Zeldin endorsers include Brookhaven Town Highway Superintendent Dan Losquadro, town Receiver of Taxes Louis Marcoccia, Assemb. Dean Murray, Suffolk County Clerk Judith A. Pascale, Suffolk County Legis. Tom Muratore and town Councilwoman Jane Bonner, a Conservative.

“Serving the people of Long Island has been my first priority from the beginning,” Zeldin said in a statement.

Throne-Holst endorsers include Suffolk County Legis. Kara Hahn, Robert Calarco, William J. Lindsay III and Sarah S. Anker, and Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Valerie M. Cartright.

The campaign also recently received the endorsement of the New York State United Teachers. Union President Karen Magee called the endorsement of Throne-Holst, a former Southampton Town supervisor, “a true testament to her commitment to our issues and to the New Yorkers our members serve every day.”
