Suffolk Presiding Officer William Lindsay, who underwent a cancer operation last May, returned to Hauppauge on Friday, attending a closed-door meeting of the majority Democratic caucus.

Legis. Wayne Horsley (D-Babylon) said Lindsay (D-Holbrook) did not take an active role at the meeting. But Horsley said Lindsay, 65, a former leader of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers local, has played a behind-the-scenes role in recent weeks in trying to reach the pact.-- Rick Brand
