While the parent MoveOn.org has called for a Supreme Court National Day of Action to urge Senate Republicans to hold hearings for President Barack Obama’s nominee for the high court, local members will go to a LIPA board meeting to testify for wind energy on Long Island.

“Since our [Democratic New York] senators are not blocking the nomination, we decided to concentrate our energies on things we have going on right now,” said Lisa Oldendorp, MoveOn’s Long Island regional organizer. — Tom Brune
