Within a few hours of acting Nassau District Attorney Madeline Singas addressing a meeting of Nassau's heroin prevention task force in Republican County Executive Ed Mangano's conference room Friday, a Hempstead Town Board Democratic candidate had posted a photo of the Democratic district attorney on his Facebook page while her office tweeted her appearance.
Because Singas is running for district attorney against Republican Kate Murray, it looked like a political event in a governmental office.
But Mangano spokesman Brian Nevin said the task force has been meeting in the county executive's office since it was created in 2011 and its co-chairs are the county executive and the district attorney.
Nevin said he wasn't certain who took the photo.
"This is a governmental meeting in a government building and we're not commenting on politics," he said.
