BACKGROUND:
- Miller, 58, is running on the Republican and Conservative party lines.
- She was appointed to the Hempstead Town Board in February to succeed Councilman Bruce Blakeman, who was elected Nassau County Executive. She is running for the final year of Blakeman’s four-year term.
- Miller served five years in the state assembly, representing the 20th Assembly district, including Atlantic Beach, Long Beach, the Five Towns and Oceanside. She went to Adelphi University.
ISSUES:
- Miller said she would hold the line on taxes and address resident concerns about staying on Long Island. She said with rising costs of inflation, the town board planned to freeze taxes in its budget and she will fight to continue freezing taxes moving forward.
- She said she will work to maintain public safety in the town, working with Hempstead public safety officers and Nassau County police to increase patrols.
- Miller said she will advocate for disability rights and special needs accessibility. She said she will increase access to services and programs, including beach mats at town beaches.
- She said the town has increased access to vaccines and also plans to expand the town’s Camp Anchor.
