Michael Watt takes over as new Nassau GOP spokesman
The Nassau Republican party has a new spokesman to replace Anthony Santino, who leaves Jan. 1 to become Hempstead Town’s new supervisor.
Michael Watt, former director of the Long Island Gasoline Retailers Association and op-ed columnist for Long Island Business News, started last Monday at Republican headquarters, learning the ropes from Santino, the longtime spokesman for Nassau Republican Chairman Joseph Mondello and the party.
Watt said he has worked for various Long Island economic groups for years. Though he now lives in Babylon, he said he was born and raised in Massapequa.
“When this opportunity presented itself I was thrilled to death,” Watt said. “How often do you get to work with a living legend like Joe Mondello?”
