BACKGROUND: Hoffmann, 63, of Hauppauge, is running on the Republican, Green and Reform party lines in the general election. Since 2017, he has been a matrimonial and family law attorney at Hedayati Law Group in Melville. From 2007 to 2016, Hoffmann was a Suffolk County Family Court judge. From 2014 to 2016, he served as acting State Supreme Court justice in Suffolk County. Hoffmann was the deputy town attorney for the Town of Islip from 1997 to 2006, and assistant town attorney from 1986 to 1996. He was an attorney in private practice in Hauppauge from 1987 to 2006, and from 1983 to 1986 with the law firm of Ronald C. Schule. He received a law degree from the California Western School of Law in 1980 and his bachelor's degree from SUNY-Binghamton in 1977. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1983, and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit; the Massachusetts State Bar; and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District and Southern District. He is a member of the Suffolk County Bar Association.
